Invited Speakers
Edgar Gomes earned his PhD at the University of Coimbra in Portugal under the supervision of Carlos Duarte. He then travelled to the USA to train as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Gregg Gundersen at Columbia University in New York. In 2010 Edgar became a group leader in the Myology Institute at the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris (France) as an INSERM Avenir Fellow. Since 2014 he is a group leader at iMM, in Lisbon. His lab investigates the mechanisms of nuclear positioning in skeletal muscle and in migrating cells. He is an ERC consolidator and an EMBO installation grantee. 
Carolina N Perdigoto works as an associate editor for Nature Communications since July 2016, handling research manuscripts on transcription regulation, epigenetics and epigenomics. ?After studying Biology at University of Coimbra, she moved to the Institut Pasteur in Paris for her doctoral studies focused on genetic and epigenetic regulation of adult stem cells in Drosophila. As an EMBO postdoctoral fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, Carolina investigated the role of epigenetic regulation in mammalian epidermal stem cells.
